Growing up on Cape Cod, Captain Doug always had a deep affinity for the ocean and all of its glorious wildlife. From a young age, his parents took him fishing with them, teaching him their techniques and skills along the way. Every summer he would spend countless hours out at sea capturing the tastiest fish. As a teenager, he started working as a deckhand for different charter captains in the area. It's in his blood – he is truly passionate about it, and always knew that one day this could be his livelihood. So for the last decade or so, he has gone from boat to boat, working with different charter captains and learning as much as he can from each one of them. It was during his time working these charters that he began to realize how important it is to create sustainable practices when taking resources from our oceans. While most captains would simply focus on catching as many fish as possible on each trip regardless of conservation protocols, he also wanted to make sure they were upholding stewardship standards while still having a successful and enjoyable haul.

He definitely knew by heart that one day he wanted to have his own charter boat business so that others could experience Cape Cod’s natural beauty and be introduced to its astonishing marine life. But it was very important for him to do it with safety in mind; after all, introducing people of all ages onto a boat requires great care. He would consistently ask himself in his head: why not create something of his own? After all these years of experience, there had to be a way for him to take what he learned and put it together into something special – something that would help him provide for himself and others who love being out at sea just like him.

And so began Captain Doug Edmunds' Charter Fishing business which he called Between Alarms Charters. In 2015, he decided to invest in a 24-foot center console for himself which enabled him to offer charters that everyone can enjoy without worrying about the safety concerns associated with taking passengers out on open seas. Since then, we have run trips that cater to anglers of all skill levels who want an unforgettable experience catching big fish off the coast of Massachusetts.
